Welcome to Christie's Cyber Estate!

Hello and thank you for visiting! My name is Christie and I am the owner of this wonderful website. I hope that you enjoy your visit and learn a little about my family and I. Feel free to leave your mark in my guestbook if you would like, but please keep it clean. I currently belong to one online group, the Sisters of the Golden Moon.  You can find information about this group by clicking on my membership logo on my Membership page.

As I said my name is Christie, owner and designer of this site. I have been married for 17 years to my husband Vernon and together we have 3 boys. My birthday is in June, making me a 'true-blue' Gemini. I am the second child of three girls from my father's first marriage and the second of six children from my father's second marriage. I have three sisters and two brothers, but rarely see any of them as they are in various states across the US. My childhood was relatively normal, if call being the product of a nasty divorce and a bitter custody battle x 2, normal.  All in all however, I think that I turned out pretty good.  I was raised by my father and step-mother from the age of 7.

Enough of that noise! So like I said, my early childhood was topsy-turvy but I guess I can say the rest was relatively normal.  I graduated from Fontana High School in 1990, where my husband also attended.  We were not high school sweethearts, but we have known each other since our Sophomore year. He would tell you that he has always wanted me to be his girlfriend since that time, I would tell you I wasn't even close to being interested.  That changed of course! I started liking him in the middle of our senior year, but never acted on it. It wasn't until circumstances brought me to live with him in August of 1990. After that you can say that we were pretty much stuck together from that point.  Vernon went off to the Marine Corp. in October of 1990, leaving me about 6 weeks pregnant. He first broke his foot and then fell off a 30 ft. rope climb during boot camp, which sealed his destiny in the military. Thanksgiving 1990, I miscarried our first child and he was medically discharged soon after that.  As anyone who has been discharged from the military knows, it takes time to actually be released and finally in April 1991 he came home for good. In June 1991, we were married in a small ceremony with family and friends.

Now if you are doing the math, we were really only 'together' 9 months before we married; six of those months he was in boot camp, so it was hardly a whirlwind romance. We pretty much grew to know each other during our first three or four years of marriage, which actually almost doomed us.  I got pregnant 6 months after we married with our first son, way to early for both of us. I wouldn't change having our son, just the timing. We were certainly not ready to be parents, especially since we were only 6 months into the marriage and both 19. But you can't change time or circumstances and after a semi-terrible pregnancy we happily welcomed Jeremy into the world late September 1992.  After many years of struggling to survive, we decided that a move to a new state would be a welcome change and enable us to start fresh.

After moving to frozen great white North ..er North Dakota in 1998, we decided that we wanted to give Jeremy siblings. He was five at this time, so we knew that there would be quite a stretch between them.  In early 1998, I became pregnant, however it was short lived when 10 weeks into the pregnancy we discovered I had what is called a blighted-ovum, in other words I was pregnant, however had no embryo present. I miscarried soon after and miraculously became pregnant two weeks later with our second son, Jarod.  My pregnancy was very uneventful, I went into labor four days after my due date and Jarod came into the world late March of 1999; all 9 lbs of him.  When Jarod was 8 months old, I found out that I was once again pregnant and was sure that I would miscarry, since that seemed to be my pattern. I was wrong, however I have to say that it was the hardest, most miserable pregnancy I had out of the three I carried to term. My third pregnancy was filled with horrible morning sickness and lots of hospital stays. Finally in December of 2000, Justin made his appearance via C-Section and has been a holy terror ever since :0)

During my pregnancy with Jarod, I decided that starting college was a good idea *snicker* I started my college studies at Williston State College pursuing a degree in the Administrative Assistant field.  This area of study was not at all what I wanted, however being a two year college I had little choice at the time. After 3 1/2 years of fun courses, I graduated with an AAS, which to this day has done me no good.  In summer of 2002, I started my Bachelor studies at Minot State University pursuing a BAS in Business Information Technology. A word of advice, make sure the degree you want is actually what you will get.  Yet another degree I received (in 2004) which has done nothing for me in the way of starting a career.  I was misguided at this college, and in reality ended up with a degree that will give me a job as nothing more than as a help desk operator.  No offense to those in the field, it is just not what I want as a career and in my neck of the woods, there are no jobs available for me to work in this area, so I yet have another degree which is unfortunately worthless. I have hopes that one day I will put my degrees to use, but until then I will work wherever I can find my niche.

In June 07, I started working for Holland America Line as a reservation agent. It's a good job with great benefits, although it has it's headaches. Essentially I take calls from travel agents and direct callers looking to take a trip of a lifetime with our cruise line. I am hoping one day my family and I will get to go on a cruise to the Caribbean or possibly Alaska. A free cruise a year is definitely a major benefit with this company, just have to find the time to do it!

In my spare time (yes, I do sometimes have this!) I like to create sig tags for emails and "tag" for a few groups. You can find my offers at http://www.tagcorner.net/ERL/17/TaggedbyChristie if you're a tag nut like me :)

So that's me in a nut shell! I hope you enjoy your visit to my website!
